Richard is an ORL surgeon whose subspecialty is rhinology. He has a clinical interest in endoscopic sinus and medial skull base surgery. He is currently a Professor in Surgery at the University of Auckland and Consultant Surgeon at Auckland City Hospital, and has a private practice at Mauranui Clinic in Epsom.

The main focus of his research is the pathogenesis and treatment chronic rhinosinusitis. Many of his research group’s projects have been generously supported by the Passé Williams Foundation.
